Lea Humphreys is currently pursuing her doctorate in Horn Performance and Literature
at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she is studying with Bernhard
Scully. A native of Maryland, she received her bachelor’s in Horn Performance at the
University of Maryland, where her primary teachers were Gregory Miller and Phil Munds.
She went on to receive her masters in Horn Performance from the University of Michigan,
where she studied with Adam Unsworth and Bryan Kennedy.
Lea is an active freelancer in Central Illinois, consistently performing with Sinfonia de Camera, the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed locally in the Champaign-Urbana area with the UIUC Graduate Brass Quintet. Along with performing, Lea has been teaching for the last 7 years including private lessons, horn supplemental class, and brass quintet coaching.
