International & Global Studies Program

Think Global

International & Global Studies offers students the opportunity to explore the relationships between global problems and local experiences. As international entities have become increasingly dependent upon one another regardless of geography and nationality, global issues have become a major part of nearly every area of study. The International & Global Studies Program is especially charged with advancing Illinois Wesleyan University's educational mission of preparing students for democratic citizenship and life in a global society. Students may choose the Asian Studies concentration or the International Relations and Global Development concentration.

 

Study Abroad

Supplement your education with numerous study abroad options. Nearly half of IWU students study abroad for a semester, full year or May Term, and students have the opportunity to study in hundreds of locations in 70 countries.

Student Organizations

Many students in the International & Global Studies program explore their interests outside of the classroom by participating in a student organization.

Honor Society

Phi Beta Delta, the International Studies Honor Society, works to recognize achievement in international education.

International Film Series

Join your peers to watch international films in their original language with English subtitles. Faculty members present a short introduction to each film, and there are often group discussions after films.

Peace Fellows Program

The John and Erma Stutzman Peace Fellows Program was created in 2007 with the purpose of encouraging talented Illinois Wesleyan University students to pursue focused study in areas involving peace, conflict resolution, and social justice, areas that reflect the broader university mission.

Internships

Internships are a great way to apply what you've learned in the classroom to real situations. The Hart Career Center are here to help you with career exploration, guidance, internship & job search, and graduate & professional school preparation.
