National Conference for Undergraduate Research
NCUR is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study by sponsoring an annual conference for students. Unlike meetings of academic professional organizations, this gathering of student scholars welcomes presenters from all institutions of higher learning across all disciplines. This school year, the deadline for abstract submissions is December 1, 2020 and the conference will be held virtually April 12-14, 2021.
Sigma Tau Delta International Convention
Every spring, Sigma Tau Delta holds its annual international convention, a unique event that allows hundreds of members and Chapter Advisors to gather to share experiences and expertise, be recognized for achievements, and discover new ideas in English and English-related disciplines, while engaging with speakers, presenters, and texts that members might not otherwise encounter. This school year, the convention will be held virtually March 25-27, 2021.
Journals:
All undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled and are members of active Sigma Tau Delta chapters are invited to submit their work to the Sigma Tau Delta Review and the Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle . Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle is an annual journal of creative writing that publishes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Sigma Tau Delta Review is an annual journal that publishes critical essays on literature, rhetoric and composition, and pedagogical issues. Submissions for the 2022 journals will be accepted between April 12 and May 10, 2021. Acceptances and announcements of awards will be posted by August 31, 2021.
Criterion: A Journal of Literary Criticism seeks original, well-researched, and intellectually rigorous essays written from diverse critical perspectives and about texts from any time period or literary tradition, prioritizing undergraduate submissions. They are not currently accepting submissions. Submissions for the Winter 2021 issue will open mid-November (there is no official submission deadline yet).
Agora: Journal for Undergraduate Scholarly Research
The Agora, housed at University of Lynchburg in Virginia, is an online publication of the Association of Core Texts and Courses specializing in undergraduate student writing in the liberal arts tradition. The journal is competitive, with no more than fifteen articles published annually . For the 2021 print publication, Agora will be seeking submissions in late 2020 (there is no official submission deadline yet). More details about submissions can be found here .
Forbes & Fifth , a journal produced by University of Pittsburgh Dietrich School undergraduates and sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity, unites works of research, creative writing, and scholarly articles under the banner of interdisciplinary collaboration.
They accept writing and visual art from all schools and disciplines of any accredited undergraduate university in the world. Forbes and Fifth is published twice yearly, in April and December. More details can be found here .
The Oswald Review is the first intercollegiate refereed journal of criticism and research in the discipline of English. Published annually, it accepts submission in the field of English from undergraduates in this country and abroad. A faculty member's endorsement is required. JUR: Journal of Undergraduate Research
JUR is a peer-reviewed, undergraduate journal registered with the Library of Congress that accepts submissions of any subject, from any undergraduate institution. The review process for publication includes peer, graduate, and faculty referees, ensuring that the journal publishes competitive material that follows its standards for academic, creative, and passionate work. JUR accepts submissions at all times of the year, with the entire review process afterward taking an average of 10 to 16 weeks. See the submission guidelines for more information.
SPUR: Scholarship and Practice of Undergraduate Research
The Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR)’s scholarly journal, Scholarship and Practice of Undergraduate Research (SPUR) , publishes scholarly works of undergraduate research. As a peer-reviewed publication, the journal provides useful and inspiring information that increases understanding of undergraduate student-faculty engagement in research, scholarship, and creative work in all disciplines and at all types of higher education institutions in the United States and abroad. SPUR is always open to submissions. They accept any papers of “general interest” and send invitations for certain authors to submit to themed issues. Apollon Undergraduate eJournal
Apollon publishes superior examples of undergraduate humanities research from a variety of disciplines and intellectual approaches. Apollon strives to take advantage of the unique opportunity of venturing into the digital humanities by engaging with image, text, sound, video, and a variety of presentation platforms in the process of showcasing the many types of undergraduate research.
