Creative Writing Minor
Have you ever read been blown away by a poem, a personal essay, a story, or a novel, and thought: I want to be able to do that ? If so, consider studying creative writing in the English department. Even if you don't have space in your schedule for the English-Writing major, you might try the creative writing minor--a great way to get a feel for and try your hand at what it takes to do that.
To minor in Creative Writing, six course units selected from the departmental offerings are required:
- One lower division creative writing course (English 101, 201, 202, 206)
- One upper division creative writing course (English 301)
- English 280 Understanding Literature
- Two additional courses in literature
- With regard to the requirements listed above, of the total number of course, only one course at the 100 level may count toward the minor, and at least two must be at the 300 level or above.
For more information on requirements for the minor, please refer to the University’s catalog or our Creative Writing Checklist.
