Dance Minor

The Minor in Dance and Certificate in Dance offer students technical training in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, and Ballroom, plus specialty courses in Broadway Dance Repertory, Choreography, Dance Lab, and Kinesiology, as well as one-on-one mentorship in Dance Special Projects. Dance Minors and Dance Certificate students are encouraged to audition for the mainstage Dance Concert and join the registered student organization Student Choreographed Dance Concert. (Dance courses for the BFA in Music Theatre may be double counted for the Dance Minor up to two units.)

Learning Goals for Dance:

  • Enrich students’ mind-body connection by building strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, balance, efficient alignment, anatomical knowledge, body awareness, and spatial awareness.
  • Embolden students to discover and explore their personal artistry, musicality, dynamics, and performance quality.
  • Encourage students to enjoy and embrace dance in all its forms: an art, a pastime, and a profession.
