Student Senate Advocacy and Awareness Commissioner

Mission Statement: As Student Senate’s Advocacy and Awareness Commissioner, it is my mission to be a voice and advocate for the student body, spreading awareness around various advocacy initiatives. My focus as commissioner includes mental health efforts, sexual violence prevention, substance abuse, bystander intervention, and overall social justice. I aim to create a thoughtful, welcoming, and inclusive space where all students at IWU can feel safe and respected when discussing sensitive topics around advocacy.

Duties: Chair the Advocacy and Awareness Committee, provide quality educational experiences or programming based on IWU, local, national or global community, serve as a liaison for student groups whose missions adhere to the issues of advocacy and awareness, and sit on the Sexual Violence Prevention task force, the Center for Human Rights and Social Justice task force, and the Campus Safety committee.
