Joshua Yount, Class of 1995

1. Post-Graduation:
   I attended law school at the University of Chicago. Then, after marrying my college sweetheart Sara Mlsna, I clerked with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  In 2001 joined the Chicago office of the law firm then known as Mayer, Brown & Platt.  Sara and I have three sons.
   
   
2. Current Career:
   I am a partner in the Chicago office of the law firm Mayer Brown LLP.  I am a litigator focusing on appeals, class actions, and securities suits.
   
   
3. Some of the Rewards and Challenges of this Position:
   The rewards include the opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal issues in a collegial and collaborative atmosphere.  The challenges consist principally of balancing the various demands on my time at work and at home.
   
   
4. Your most Exciting or Worthwhile Experience in this Position:
   I enjoyed attending a Supreme Court argument in a case that I spent many months working on.  The most worthwhile experience has been learning how to persuasively and forcefully advocate.
   
   
5. How did the education you received from Illinois Wesleyan's Political Science Department help prepare you for this position? 
   Principally, my political science education gave me an introduction to the law that left me eager to learn more. It also helped me begin to think critically.
