Welcome

Welcome to the Office of Multifaith Engagement (OME)! Housed in Evelyn Chapel, our office celebrates and supports the diversity of worldviews present at Illinois Wesleyan - religious, spiritual, and secular. Through multifaith programming, student organizations, and a team of professional and student leaders, we seek to provide a venue for asking meaningful questions - including questions about who we are and what we are for. Whatever beliefs and practices you bring, we are here to support you on your journey.

Our home in Evelyn Chapel is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. There are always spaces available to study, gather for conversation, or make a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Come visit us anytime!

 

Multifaith Ambassador Program

The Multifaith Ambassador Program is a unique leadership program for students who represent a variety of religious and non-religious perspectives and beliefs, and who are passionate about understanding and engaging religious diversity on campus, in their own communities, and in the world.

Spiritual Student Organizations

There are several Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) that pertain to different faith traditions. OME supports the work of these groups and offers programming exploring and practicing faith and spirituality, interfaith community, and social justice.  

 

Office Strategic Objectives

  1. Enhance Campus Visibility and Awareness: Develop strategies and initiatives to ensure the Office of Multifaith Engagement is prominently visible on campus. This includes creating a captivating online presence, organizing campus-wide events, and collaborating with student organizations to promote the office's services and mission.

  2. Strengthen Campus and Community Connections: Establish and nurture partnerships with campus departments, student groups, and community organizations in Bloomington-Normal. Foster collaborative efforts through joint events, workshops, and outreach programs to strengthen relationships and deepen the office's impact within the local and campus communities.

  3. Facilitate Inclusive Dialogue and Education: Organize regular discussion forums, workshops, and panel sessions that encourage open and inclusive conversations about various religious and spiritual beliefs. Provide resources and platforms for students, faculty, and staff to learn from each other's perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of different faith traditions.

  4. Cultivate Unity and Belonging: Develop programs and initiatives that bring together individuals from diverse belief systems to foster a sense of unity and community on campus. Organize interfaith events, service projects, and cultural celebrations that emphasize common values and bridge gaps between different religious and spiritual identities, creating an inclusive environment where all feel welcomed and valued.
