Association for Women in Mathematics
The Association of Women in Mathematics (AWM) is a national organization that contains many student chapters. The goals of AWM are to encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences.
Pi Mu Epsilon
Pi Mu Epsilon (PME) is a national mathematics honor society that promotes mathematics worldwide. Our local chapter at IWU recognizes undergraduates who are capable mathematicians and promotes social cohesion among math students.
Illinois Wesleyan University Actuarial Society
The Illinois Wesleyan University Actuarial Society is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) where people studying actuarial science can study for SOA/CAS exams together, exchange tips and get advice about actuarial exams, internships, and careers, and meet other like-minded people interested in actuarial opportunities. All students are welcome, including those with no actuarial background who are interested in learning more about actuarial science.
Data Science
The Illinois Wesleyan Data Science Club is a student-led organization that strives to educate peers on the importance of quantitative analytics and aims to build a network of students, industry professionals, and faculty in the data science community. The club conducts workshops, hosts guest speakers, provides learning tools, and runs competition. Members meet on a weekly basis to discuss and plan the best path to further their education in the field of data science.
Chess Club
The IWU chess club is a competitive chess team as well as a chess research center, many members have affiliated US chess federation official ratings. All level players are welcome to join, if you are at beginning level, we will assign experienced players to help you improve skills. We are equipped with tournament style triple-weight chess pieces and official chess clocks for practice. You do not have to bring any board or pieces but please bring a notebook for game recording.
