Services
Health Care
Health Services is staffed by a Certified Nurse Practitioner and the collaborative University Medical Director is off-site. All services rendered by IWU Health Services are free of charge. All IWU students, regardless of insurance, are welcome to utilize the health center. A Level II Trauma Center is located two blocks from Health Services.
If additional information is needed please contact Health Services.
Medication Administration
Limited medications are available at no cost. If the student's condition requires a prescription or advanced medical care the student may need to contact their primary health care provider and/or the insurance carrier for optimum insurance coverage.
Allergy Injections
Health Services offers the service of continuing an allergy desensitization program started by the patient's physician. Patients must supply their own allergy serum and dose instructions.
Antigens must have labels with the following information:
- the name of the patient
- name(s) of antigen(s) each vial contains
- the dilutent strength
- expiration date of the materials
- Patient must wait 30 minutes after injections.
- Allergy injections are administered 8a.m.-11:30a.m. and 1p.m.-4p.m. (Monday-Friday)
Illinois Wesleyan Health Services will be glad to administer allergy injections for you. The AHS is staffed by a Certified Nurse Practitioner and a registered nurse. The physician must grant written approval of administration.
Professional Referrals
Referrals may be warranted by state of health or if requested by the student.
AHS advises all students and their families to contact their insurance carrier to determine the benefits allowed when the student is at IWU and to obtain a list of local physicians covered by their plan. All students should have an insurance card issued by the insurance company or a copy of the card (front and back). This information can be kept on file in the AHS medical records. Arnold Health Services makes every effort to insure the student receives the optimum health care available.
