Todd Nicholas Fuist is an Associate Professor of Sociology, chair of the Sociology Program, and director of Criminology at Illinois Wesleyan University. His work focuses on identity, culture, and power in politics, religion, and subcultures.
His work has appeared in Theory & Society, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, and Sociological Forum, among other journals. He co-edited a volume titled Religion and Progressive Activism (NYU Press) with Ruth Braunstein and Rhys H. Williams, which brings together scholars from across the discipline to examine the intersection of faith and left-wing politics in the United States. Currently, he is in the process of completing a manuscript on how successful environmental movements exercised power against ostensibly better-positioned opponents to win in their endeavors.
Todd teaches a number of classes at Illinois Wesleyan, including offerings on social movements, youth subcultures, media, and environmental sociology, along with teaching History of Social Thought and Introductory Sociology.
