​Interim Provost & Dean of the Faculty

David Marvin

David Marvin

David Marvin was appointed Interim Provost and Dean of Faculty on June 1, 2024. He is the chief academic officer of the University, overseeing all academic departments in addition to The Ames Library, Athletics, The Registrar's Office and The Petrick Idea Center. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Cloud State University, JD from the University of Minnesota Law School, and an MBA from the University of Oklahoma. He served as an attorney in North Dakota and Minnesota, and then came to IWU as an assistant professor of Business Administration. David has served at Illinois Wesleyan for nearly 30 years, including broad experience in governance and administrative leadership. His area of study is law and ethics.

Rebecca Roesner, PhD

Direct responsibilities of the Associate Provost encompass student research, academic facilities and equipment, the faculty salary budgets, and the hiring of adjunct faculty. Doctor Roesner earned her bachelor's degree at Ohio Wesleyan University and Ph.D. at University of Kansas. Dean of Curricular & Faculty Development

The Dean of Curricular and Faculty Development provides assistance to the Provost on a wide range of academic issues, particularly those supporting the curriculum and faculty development. The position provides opportunities to guide key campus initiatives, especially related to the Shared Curriculum, short-term study abroad, academic technology, best practices of teaching and learning, faculty development at all career stages, and recognition of faculty excellence. The Dean of Curricular and Faculty Development serves as the Academic Affairs liaison to committees related to curriculum, instruction, and faculty development, in particular the Curriculum Council (CC), the Committee for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETAL), and the Faculty Development Committee (FDC). They also oversee the Thorpe Center for Faculty Development and its activities and charges.

The Administrative Specialist to the Dean of Curricular & Faculty Development manages the daily operations of the Dean's office and the Thorpe Center. They also serve as the liaison between the Provost and all internal and external constituents.
