Assistant Director of International Office/Study Abroad

The Assistant Director of International Office/Study Abroad will serve as a first line of contact for the International Office and International Admissions. They will serve as the manager for the abroad@iwu.edu email and co manage the internationaloffice@iwu.edu account, handle initial correspondence to that account, and be the primary contact for all study abroad communications. They will lead the execution of study abroad programs and build interest in study abroad at IWU. This position will provide support to international recruitment and admissions efforts. This leader will serve as a back-up DSO and maintain compliance with all federal regulations and follow all Department of Homeland Security requirements. Responsibilities:

  • Study abroad advising; advise students on study abroad options and work with them through the application; review and process IWU study abroad applications; prepare and deliver online and in-person pre-departure orientations; coordinate review of study abroad scholarship applications with the Study Abroad Advisory Committee; design and implement marketing campaigns for study abroad, including event planning, print, email, video content and social media; assist with visas as needed
  • Administer study abroad programs; administer IWU London and IWU Barcelona programs; issue annual call for directors, liaise with on-site partners, review contracts, prepare draft budgets; Support for UISFL grant; support short term travel, build Terra dotta/online brochures and applications, support faculty leaders, register students with STEP; review, approve and reconcile spending program; coordinate information sharing with campus partners/offices; monitor risk and safety abroad (USDOS, CDC, OSAC, NAFSA, AlertTraveler)
  • Support recruitment and admissions programs; ability to represent IWU at recruitment events and to meet with prospective students regarding study abroad opportunities; serve as member of the International Admissions Committee; manage communications and documents processing related to international admissions; assist with the execution of an international student recruitment plan
  • Serve as International Student Advisor/DSO Backup and support International Office operations; assist students in complying with government regulations concerning their status, visas, passports and insurance; assist with orientation; assist in processing office reimbursements, stipends, payment of bills; general office support

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Three years related experience
  • US citizenship or legal permanent residency required to serve as a DSO/ARO
  • Knowledge of study abroad program advising, Terra Dotta, familiarity with undergraduate curriculum and requirements. Ability to learn databases and follow prescribed policies and processes. 
  • Some local, national and international travel possible

$46,000 ($23.59/hr)
