  1. What are your everyday responsibilities as an intern?

I design posters, flyers, signages, logos and other design projects. When I am on the internship site, I help with checking in/out inventory and communicate with members, and sometimes do miscellaneous chores when needed.

 

  1. How did you land this internship?

I applied for SEP (Summer Enrichment Program) and after getting in, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion paired me with the WBRP for an internship.

 

  1. What drew you to this internship?

The variety of design projects and disciplines that I believe will help build my design portfolio.

 

  1. How did IWU prepare you for succeeding as an intern?

From the art and design classes in the School of Art, I learned how to think critically about the ideas that I brainstormed and sketched down. This helped me to think about what design works well with the company I am working with.

 

  1. What do you hope to gain from this internship experience as you look forward to being a student/professional?

I hope to gain more experience and knowledge in the design process, and design more efficiently. I also hope to gain branding strategies.

 

  1. What's been a particularly rewarding experience as an intern?

Communicating and getting to know more people.

 

  1. In your opinion, why is it important for students to experience internships?

Not only does an internship builds skills that are related to academics, but it also develops other important skills like leadership and management; those disciplines that are likely to be helpful with your future profession.
